Mt. Mapalad + kinubuan falls and malapad falls

Sooo , it’s been a year since I posted my last blog. And here I am trying again to blog my travel, as I was googling about this Mt. Mapalad I was a bit shocked that only a few reviews that are posted about this beautiful mountain. So I came up to this thinking maybe I should write about it and help other 😉.

This is only a quick review but will try my best to help 😁.

Mt. Mapalad is a newly discovered trekking destination located in San Andres Rizal, is 750 meters above sea level (MASL). A good for beginners with difficulty 3/9 that features sea of clouds (if the weather will let us ), a scenic view of sierra madre and a fall.

Sad that we weren’t that mapalad ( lucky) to witness the sea of clouds.

We started the climb dark of dawn (3:20 AM) use of headlamps and flashlight is the only help to light up the trail. Some of us use the flashlight of their phones.

The trail begins with flat roads with also river crossing that has bamboo bridge but as an additional adventure for us who used sandal we cross it by the river just above the ankle and it is so coooolddddddd . But feels so good.

Our first stop is in mini store of aling lusy where you can buy hard boiled eggs, instant noodles, and chichas . We take almost 10 minutes rest as we talk about some work issue.😂😂 As we continue to ascend, the trail changes into more steeply on the ascent up to the peak.

There will be a resting place with a bamboo benches at the end of ascent , where we take our 5 minutes rest and take some pictures .

“Me in the photo pretending to be strong as i carry mine and my newbie co-worker bag 😂”

And unfortunately my first ever climb with heavy raining, Luckily it rained when we were already in the peak taking photos. The worst thing is that the nippa hut that was suppose to cover us from rain is still under construction. The breeze is so cold after the rain. Better to bring winter breaker and rain coats .

We waited the rain to stop ,and start to descent . The trail become muddy and slippery due to heavy rain .

Final stop is at manang lusy store , as the other take a dip at refreshing malapad falls . We take nap while waiting for them . It is really a good nap after a tiring descent .

After cleaning ourselves , we decided to continue descending . The trail will be the flat roads with river crossing that takes 30 minutes down to camp site and registration . Where we take our lunch that was prepared by the locals .

Twin hike (Mt.Talamitam and Mt. Apayang)

Here’s a quick review from my past hike way back in November 2017 .

Want to escape from the city but don’t like having a long rides? A twin hike just near Manila, Mt. Talamitan and Apayang is just 3 hours away from the city . It is a two peak in one mountain and it is not popular like mt. Batulao.

I call this hike “my moving on climb”😂😂 As i was invited by my co-workers to join their group , after my break up from my hike buddy and travel buddy ( akala ko forever Travel buddy na kita, mas pinili mo pala ung mall buddy mo😏) 😂😂 charot lang po 🙄. Anyways it is nice to join a group again after getting used on traveling solo or traveling with the one you used to love. The bonus from joining their group is i don’t feel out of place and what i love most to this group is they are unicorns 🦄 (i mean they are bisexual “gay plus tomboy” ) 😍 . Ang saya lang na habang nag lalakad ka sa trail di mo alintana yung pagod kasi makulit mga kasama mo .

How to get there: as i am from calamba laguna .
• we take van at turbina terminal going to tagaytay olivares (i think they are 24/7 open)
•from tagaytay olivares we take bus going to nasugbu batangas “tell the conductor to drop you off at brgy. Aga or jump off talamitan .you may also take jeepney going to nasugbu ,but i prefer you to take bus for the faster trip .
If you are from manila :
Just take bus going to nasugbu batangas either cubao terminal or pasay terminal. I personaly suggest DLTB bus line. Tell the conductor to drop you off at brgy. Aga (talamitan drop off)

Start to register .

Mt. Talamitan jump off

Total summary of the hike and what to expect in this trail:

  • The trail is half of grass land and half of forest . It start from the forest to grassland.

  • From the grass land you will see the view of mt. Batulao .
  • Prepare for the sun to hit your skin.
  • Also you will encounter a lot of cow from the grass land .
  • A total chill climb ,for you to enjoy and forgot what is stressing you up .
  • From the grassland you will encounter some sari-sari store, expect for double pricing of the item ,because its the only store that is convenient and accessible for the hikers.
  • Cellular signal is present throughout the trail.
  • Camping site is just near talamitan peak .
  • There is some stall that sell fresh buko juice , for you to refresh .

  • Assult to talamitan is an open trail, wear a proper clothing , as the sun can cause you sunburn . I suggest you to wear sleeves or put a lot of sunblock cream.
  • I used umbrella to lessen the damage can cause from the sun .

  • Also we passed by some high grass , that can cause itchiness .
  • Ohh what i love here is they sell halo-halo at the peak of talamitan. .
    • From peak of talamitan you will see here the majestic view of peak mt. Apayang , mt. Batulao ,mt. Marami and mt. Pico de loro.

  • Mt. Talamitan and mt.apayang are just 100 meter apart ,a 40 minutes walk from talamitan to ascend apayang .
  • Trail to Apayang gets more difficult as the cogon grasses are everywhere and much higher .

  • We take our lunch at apayang peak and had some rest .
  • After lunch we decided to descent the same trail .
    • And take a dip in the river at the foot of the mountain .

    • The river is so refreshing that we forgot how exhausted we are .The water is clean and cold . We played like a kid again .
    • We also tried cliff jumping with extra careful as the river is surrounded with bigs stones .
    • They also got bathroom for us to wash up .
    • Back to registration area and bids good bye . 😔

Bukal falls( The Enchanted falls of Laguna)

As i traveled to laguna , I’ve seen a lot of falls. But bukal falls has its own beauty , as others call it enchated falls or the hidden falls of laguna , because of its crystal clear water that’s as cold as ice and the emerald green moss covering the rock walls. Some believed that it was taken care by a Goddess or Diwata, and others consider the incidents that happen in the water falls is just a toll for its beauty. And because of the story i got scared to swim into the water 😂😂 , which i regret . 😢

Bukal falls is located at Majayjay Laguna , only 3hours away from the city (without traffic) . Majayjay is a 4th class municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. It is located at the foot of majestic Mount Banahaw, and stands 1,000 feet above sea level. One hundred twenty kilometers south of Manila, it is bounded by the municipality of Magdalena on the north-west, by Lucban in Quezon province on the southeast, by Luisana on the north-east, and by Liliw on the west.

How to get there:

•Take a bus going Sta.Cruz, (just tell the conductor to drop you off at Pagsawitan ,it’s where the terminal of jeeney going to majayjay or you can take lucban route.) Fare: 140php

But for me it only cost 61php , from Calamba laguna.

Bus Terminal: from Lrt Buendia or Cubao .

•from pagsawitan take Jeeney going to Majayjay tell the jeepney driver to drop you at brgy. Bukal, same thing if you take the jeepney bound to Lucban.(don’t get confused where the jeepney driver will drop you, just take note that there is a sign board showing bukal falls road)

•then, Take tricycle going to barangay hall.

• You can also hire a tricycle from pagsawitan direct to bukal barangay hall , the contract fare is 300 php, but if you are good in bidding try your luck 😉😉 . Unleash your haggling skill 😂😂 . Cause mine i got it for only 250 php 😊 .

I personaly recomend :

Kuya Jeremy –

Contact #: 09092580077

:medyo madaldal si kuya, pero mabait siya, and nakakatuwa pagiging madaldal niya 😂😊.

after registration at the barangay hall, they will require you to have a tourist guide for the safety. Start of trek from brgy hall upto the falls will take 30mins-45mins depending on the speed of your walk. The hike will be easy as the road is cemented.

we enjoyed the walk through this path we came across of some locals greeting us with joy ,as i greet them “MAGANDANG BUHAY” in return .

I also fell inlove😍with the flowers and trees , that i barely see in the City .

Before going down to the falls we took a 5 minute rest at mini store located at the camp site . We bought fresh buko juice for only 25php per order .

After the 5minute rest we continued the trek going down to the falls,

Because we visited it last September 17,2017 Thursday it is like we own the falls , me and my friend enjoying the serene and peaceful atmosphere . I highly suggest that you come here during weekday mornings so you will enjoy the falls without worrying about the crowd .

Kwebang Lampas , Pagbilao Quezon

This is actually my first blog but not the first place I’ve been .

forgive me if this is not what you expect to read but  hoping this will help you .

  • How to get in kwebang lampas , pagbilao quezon?

– take a bus going to Lucena Grand Terminal , once you arrived at the terminal there is jeepneys going to pagbilao . Then take another jeepney going to Brgy. Isla Polo and after you arrived to isla polo terminal you have to take trycicle going to the jump off. Just tell the trycicle driver you are going to kwebang lampas/ puting buhangin,

– and if you are going there by any vihecle , you can use google map or waze . or better if you ask for the direction to the locals . and wondering about the parking ? they have parking space .But their is one thing you should know , the road going to kwebang lampas is soooooo rough and muddy !! Like what the H… kumikita sila yet hindi nila mapaayos ung daan 😦 .
